About the artist

The photographer Edgar Herbst

Edgar Herbst - photographs - sees, looks, peers, feels with his eyes through the camera, his toy and gadget. Resting, running, raging, flying, hovering, dancing, he encounters the subjects of humans, animals, nature and his fantasy world.

"Torn Pictures" lean against and react with the "visual escalation" of our time. Demanding, wanting attentiveness through pointed destruction, lifting out of the safe framework, as it were a development of a fragile aesthetic.

Edgar devoted two decades to the fine, light-filled social life of the republic in ballrooms on the slippery floor of prominent ostentation, only to then turn to himself.

An exhibition in the Kewenig Palma gallery curated by Jule Kewenig entitled “FOR EDGAR” in 2016, with motifs that he showed as a reflection of himself, his own longing for intoxication and ecstasy.

In the association "Dejavu - Society for Photography and Perception" a monthly column is published on www.re-vue.org to accompany Edgar's book project "Cafe Herbst oder die Reise zum Amazonas", which in image, word, sound and film is based on the reflection of his life journey dares.

Edgar Herbst, born in 1961 in Bad Lauterberg in the Harz Mountains, has lived and worked in Berlin for 20 years after having lived in Frankfurt am Main and Hamburg.
